Terms of Service
Last updated: April 27, 2026
1. What HopSwap is
HopSwap is a service that helps trading-card collectors find trades. We surface trade opportunities — direct or multi-party — between collectors and provide a dashboard for reviewing them. We do not handle, ship, escrow, authenticate, or grade cards.
2. HopSwap is a platform, not a party to trades
HopSwap does not participate in, guarantee, or take responsibility for any trade between collectors. Once we surface an opportunity, our role is done. All trades happen directly between collectors, on PSA's messaging system or however they choose to arrange it.
HopSwap makes no guarantees about:
- The grade, condition, authenticity, or accuracy of any card listed by a collector or surfaced in a trade opportunity
- Whether a collector will follow through on a proposed trade
- The accuracy of card metadata returned by third parties (PSA's public API, Google's Gemini vision model)
- The outcome of any interaction between collectors
3. Your responsibility
You are responsible for your own trades. Verify the cards before you ship anything. Use the same judgment you would for any private-party card trade. HopSwap does not verify identities, authenticate cards, or vet collectors.
4. No money changes hands through HopSwap
HopSwap does not process payments, set prices, or facilitate monetary transactions. If you and another collector decide to involve cash in your trade, that arrangement is entirely between you and outside the scope of HopSwap.
5. Information we store
When you use HopSwap, we store:
- Your email address (used as your login identity)
- Your PSA Set Registry username
- A personal HopSwap forwarding address (
[email protected]) - Card inventory data you upload via PSA Set Registry CSV — including private fields like My Cost and Purchase Date
- Photos of raw cards you upload, plus the structured fields our vision model extracts from them
- Card metadata returned by the PSA public API (year, brand, set, subject, image URLs, population data) keyed to your cert numbers
- Card-related emails forwarded by you to your HopSwap address (we read these to surface trade signals)
- Trade opportunities we curate for you and your responses (accept / pass)
- Magic-link session and event logs
6. Third-party services we share data with
To do our job, HopSwap sends specific data to specific services:
- PSA's public API receives your cert numbers when we look up card details. PSA already has this data; we send the cert # to retrieve their record of it.
- Google's Gemini API receives images you upload (raw card photos) for visual analysis. Per Google's API terms, content sent to the Gemini API is not used to train models.
- Postmark handles outbound email delivery.
- Cloudflare R2 stores the photos you upload.
We do not sell your information. We do not show one collector's My Cost / Purchase Date to another collector. Private CSV columns are read by the system to inform trade matching but are never disclosed to other users.
7. Opting out and deletion
Every email from HopSwap includes an unsubscribe link. One click stops further emails. You can also email us to delete your account and data; we will remove your member record, MemberCard rows, photo uploads, CSV uploads, and pending trade opportunities scoped to you.
8. No warranty
HopSwap is provided as-is. We make no warranties, express or implied, about the reliability, availability, or fitness of the service for any particular purpose. We may change, suspend, or shut down the service at any time.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HopSwap and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the service or any trade facilitated through it. Specifically, we are not liable for any cards lost, damaged, or misrepresented in trades arranged via HopSwap.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of HopSwap after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
